client testimonials
“The coaching, the community, the progress — it’s all real.” I started powerlifting with Sergio after years of bodybuilding, and the difference in programming, support, and mindset was huge. We began as a small group, and now it’s grown into something special. The coaching pushed me through hard times, and the team energy — especially during big lifts — is unmatched. I’ve made more progress here than anywhere else. — Kevin N., Powerlifting Team Athlete |
“Deadlifts used to hurt — now I feel strong and confident on the platform.” "After a back injury, I was nervous going into my first meet. But thanks to Surge and my coach Mike, I rebuilt my squat, bench, and deadlift. For the first time, heavy deadlifts felt good. I went 9 for 9, hit my goal, and left excited to do more. The staff, team, and atmosphere made it an unforgettable first meet." — Al B., Remote Athlete |
“As a parent, knowing my daughter is supported means everything.”
My teenage daughter has fallen even more in love with powerlifting since joining Surge. The staff is professional, the environment is safe, and the coaches truly care about each athlete’s well-being and success. I can’t thank them enough for creating a space where she feels protected, encouraged, and inspired to chase her goals. — Parent of Powerlifting Team Athlete |
“From day one, I felt supported and challenged.”
Coming from CrossFit, powerlifting was a new world for me — but from the moment I walked into Surge, I felt welcomed. Sergio’s passion and knowledge were clear right away, and the programming has pushed me beyond what I thought I could do. The team celebrates wins together and lifts each other up through the tough sessions. Jackie brings the same energy as a coach — encouraging, inspiring, and powerful to watch in action. — Sammi P., Powerlifting Team Athlete |
success stories
KEVIN NKANGA
When Kevin first joined Surge in March, he came with a strong foundation built from years of lifting heavy. Our focus was on refining his technique, honing in on the sport-specific demands of powerlifting, and unlocking his full potential. Fast forward to December, and Kevin made his competition debut—and didn’t just compete, he excelled! He crushed 474 lbs on squats, 303 lbs on bench, and 463 lbs on deadlift, adding an impressive 130 lbs to his total in less than a year! ALLISON WAHRMAN
When Allison first joined Surge, she knew she had untapped potential, and we were ready to help her bring it out. Despite facing an injury early in her journey, she made an incredible comeback to compete at the Pro level. Since then, Allison has achieved two massive milestones: squatting and deadlifting over 400 lbs! Her resilience and determination are nothing short of inspiring. This is just the beginning for Allison, and we’re excited to see her continue to crush her goals! |
LAURA SANCHEZ
Laura was on the verge of stepping away from powerlifting when she decided to take a chance with Surge—and she hasn’t looked back since. In just 6 months, Laura’s dedication and hard work paid off in a big way. She smashed her competition goals with a 358 lb squat, 187 lb bench, and 364 lb deadlift, adding an impressive 55 lbs to her total in less than a year! Laura’s story is a testament to what’s possible when you embrace coaching, trust the process, and commit to growth. The future is bright, and we can’t wait to see her continue to shine! MIGUEL CRUZ
When Miguel first came to Surge, he was already signed up for a meet but had no idea where to start. Our coaches quickly stepped in with an emergency prep plan to ensure his first competition was a success—and it was! Not only did Miguel hit a few PRs during his meet, but he also found a passion for powerlifting that has kept him hooked ever since. We’re proud to have been part of Miguel’s journey and can’t wait to see what’s next for him! |
LEYLA MAHMUTOVICH - 2025 HEARTBREAKER ATHLETE
Starting at 16 years old with us, we've been working with her now for one year and her transformation physically and mentally has been an incredible one. We are so proud of here! "Powerlifting gave me a place to grow personally on my terms, something cheerleading was no longer able to provide. My new challenge was the barbell; every lift was a measurable indicator of my strength and development. It had nothing to do with competing with others or living up to the expectations of others. It was about challenging my definition of success. I felt peaceful and powerful for the first time in years. A new sense of self assurance and resolve took the place of toxic voices that had before filled my head. " |
